You need exactly one thing: a transparent side panel (glass, plastic, or acrylic). If your case has one, the Snowblind Mod will work. That includes:

A cheap old monitor gets disassembled and its backlight removed. What's left is the transparent LCD panel. That panel gets mounted on the inside of your side panel and connected via HDMI, exactly like a regular external monitor. White LEDs inside the case make the image visible.
